For eight weekends, jousters, hawkers and the royal court bring the 30-acre village just outside Apache Junction back to life for this fest. People dress in elaborate period costumes and gnaw on giant turkey legs as they watch jesters perform. There are shops, old-fashioned games, amusement rides and a museum of medieval torture. Arizona Matsuri
This celebration of Japanese culture features an anime costume contest, kimono fashion show, ondo (folk) dancing, Asahi Beer Garden, taiko drumming and martial-arts demonstrations.
