The Duke of Cambridge found time to remember Valentine's Day despite his work in the Falkland Islands, sending flowers and a card to his wife.
His romantic actions were revealed while the Duchess was on a royal engagement in Liverpool.
Kate was presented with flowers, cake and a Valentine's Day card by eight-year-old Jaqson Johnston-Lynch, whose mother Jacquie, head of service for the charity Action on Addiction in Liverpool, welcomed her to The Brink, a dry bar for recovering alcoholics.
Jaqson told the royal visitor he was sorry Prince William could not be there for St Valentine's Day.
Mrs Johnston-Lynch said Kate replied: "Do you know where he is, Jaqson?
"He's in the Falklands but he's sent me a card this morning."
Mrs Johnston-Lynch added that the Duchess said she received flowers as well as the card from her husband.
William is on a six-week posting in the Falklands region in his role as an RAF search and rescue pilot.
