Area businesses on top of Valentine's Day present rush
Local businesses frantically prepared Monday for an inevitable influx of Valentine's Day customers buying gifts for that special someone.
"This is our busiest holiday," said Ramblin' Rose Florist owner Chris Brazil. "[For] a lot of flower shops, Mother's Day is their busiest holiday. But for us, we have more young customers and more military, so we tend to have a bigger Valentine's Day."
The store has rented a refrigerated truck to store scores of pre-made flower arrangements. Brazil said Valentine's Day is always a "last-minute holiday" with fewer than 5 percent of customers ordering more than three days in advance. To prepare, the store has stocked more than 2,500 roses and has pre-made about 300 items in anticipation of long lines on Cupid's day today.
"We try to be totally prepared so we don't have to turn anybody down," Brazil said. "A lot of places don't gear up as much as we do. But you see that truck out there - we do that so we can accommodate the influx of customers."
